Cloud Security Posture Review: A Practical Checklist for Teams

By Zenith Hackers Intelligence · Updated 21 October 2026

Review cloud exposure, identity, logging, encryption, backups, and configuration drift using a structured checklist.

Inventory resources

List accounts, projects, regions, storage, databases, workloads, and internet-facing services. Assign owners and classify data.

Review identity and exposure

Check privileged roles, stale users, public endpoints, firewall rules, and cross-account access. Apply least privilege and restrict management interfaces.

Protect data and secrets

Review encryption, key access, secret storage, rotation, and sharing controls. Encryption does not compensate for excessive permissions.

Confirm logging and recovery

Protect audit logs, retain them appropriately, test backup restoration, and alert on high-risk changes such as public exposure or disabled logging.

Track fixes

Prioritize by business impact, assign owners and deadlines, record expiring exceptions, and verify the actual configuration after remediation.
